Gasket are excited to announce a 2 day workshop titled ‘We Are Water_We Are Air’ – led by Diego Ferrari, investigating photography, art and architecture in the city.
Participants will explore ways to work within space and methods of representation through concentrating on two natural elements present in our environment – Water and Air. As well as improving their photographic skills, the workshop will also allow participants to develop their own creative vision of the relationships between photography, the city and the human body. Students will photograph in the streets and public spaces, developing original bodies of work that reflect their personal artistic approach and the architecture of the area.
The constructed space of the city is a solid geometric environment that guides our everyday lives. When the element of water is out of its designed vessel it becomes free and its fluidity cannot be controlled, nor can it be measured. By releasing it from the restrictions of its container, it fascinates us by revealing the natural patterns evolving out of its unimaginable fluid structure. – Diego Ferrari
The workshop combines a range of technical approaches and explores ideas about architecture, public space, art and community.
This workshop is planned for the first weekend in September and will be based in and around Tottenham Court Road, Fitzrovia and Bloomsbury in central London. As well as lectures and discussion sessions, practical group working exercises will provide an opportunity to develop participants’ own artistic portfolio across the two days.
The workshop group will be limited to a maximum of 10 participants, creating an intimate working relationship amongst the attendees and Diego.
If you are interested in attending the workshop please contact us using the form below or via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) to reserve your place.
